Amina’s Story
When Amina (name changed) accessed Healthworks’ Best Start Pregnancy Support service during her first pregnancy, she was feeling anxious, isolated and unsure about preparing for birth and becoming a new parent.
She wanted reassurance, practical advice and opportunities to meet other expectant mums.
What Healthworks did:
Amina received personalised one-to-one pregnancy support, practical information and regular wellbeing calls.
She was supported to access NHS antenatal classes, joined a Healthworks breastfeeding group and was introduced to other expectant and new mums.
This helped her build friendships, share experiences and feel more supported throughout her pregnancy.
Best Start Pregnancy Support Outcomes:
Over two months, Amina became less anxious, more confident and better prepared for motherhood.
She developed a stronger bond with her baby during pregnancy, improved her knowledge of breastfeeding and made new friendships that helped reduce her feelings of isolation.
By the end of the programme, she felt more relaxed, positive and excited about welcoming her baby.
“Best Start has made this pregnancy journey worthwhile. I feel much less anxious, more relaxed and excited to meet my little one. The support and encouragement I received made such a positive difference.”
