Healthworks Gym is a friendly, low-cost community gym designed to support people of all ages and fitness levels.

With commercial-grade equipment, a relaxed atmosphere, and a no-judgement approach, we make it easier to feel confident and supported in your fitness journey.

As a not-for-profit gym, every penny we make is reinvested into our local services, helping improve health and wellbeing across the North East. If you’re looking for a welcoming, friendly and affordable alternative to commercial gyms, Healthworks Gym always puts people before profit.

I thought gyms were just for young fit people and that people wouldn’t speak to each other.  I couldn’t have been more wrong. I found it a welcoming, friendly Gym which was a pleasure to come to. The staff were so supportive and motivating throughout. There’s a really good social aspect too and I have got to know lots of new people.

Gym sessions are an hour in length and are available between the following hours on the following days:

• 8 am to 8 pm Mondays to Fridays
• 9 am to 1 pm on Saturdays

Healthworks Gym and Class Prices

From 1 October 2026, we’re simplifying our gym memberships and Pay As You Go prices to make our offer easier to understand and give you more flexibility.

We’re introducing one Healthworks membership, which includes unlimited use of our gyms at the Health Resource Centre and The Lemington Centre, as well as free booking onto our open-access classes.

Monthly membership will be £18.75, with a 20% loyalty discount after six consecutive monthly payments, reducing the price to £15 per month.

Annual membership and Pay As You Go options will also continue to be available.

Already a monthly Direct Debit member? You’ll move onto the new membership with no price increase.

The new prices take effect from 1 October 2026.

Gym Inductions for New Members

If you’re over 18 and confident using gym equipment, or have completed a gym induction recently at another gym, you may choose to skip the in-person induction and watch our online gym induction videos before using the facilities.

We recommend that all new Healthworks Gym members complete a gym induction before using the facilities.

• Cost: £6.00

• Duration: 30 to 60 minutes (depending on your experience)
