We’ve won a major national award!
We are absolutely thrilled to have won one of the GSK IMPACT Awards 2021 for our work improving the physical and mental health of people across the North East of England.
Following a rigorous selection and assessment process, Healthworks was chosen from more than 350 charities across the UK as one of the 10 winners of the 2021 GSK IMPACT Awards. The awards are designed to recognise the outstanding work of small and medium sized charities working to improve health and wellbeing in communities across the UK. Winners receive £30,000 in unrestricted funding as well as expert support and leadership development provided by leading health and care charity The King’s Fund.
The Covid-19 pandemic has driven an increase in the number of people who need support from local charities, whilst also making it harder to deliver services and raise much needed funds.
It was was recognised that despite the pandemic, Healthworks has continued to offer targeted health and wellbeing support to people living in the most disadvantaged parts of the North East.

The 2021 GSK IMPACT Award recognises Healthworks’ significant impact in the community and its commitment to health and wellbeing in the North East Region. Developing leaders in the charity sector is a key aim of the GSK IMPACT Awards programme and all winners are invited to build on their success and take part in a tailored leadership development programme run by The King’s Fund. Healthworks will also be invited to join the GSK IMPACT Awards Network, a UK wide network of over 95 previous award winners who work together to develop leaders, find new ways of working and provide mutual support.

This is an enormous achievement and I’m proud that the work of the whole team has been recognised for the excellent work they do to improve people’s health and wellbeing. Healthworks has supported local communities across the North East to improve their health, wellbeing and life outcomes for over the last 25 years.
Our services are now needed more than ever to support vulnerable and disadvantaged communities and those who have felt the impact of Covid. We are working closely with our partners across the North East to support communities and developing new services to ‘Build Back Fairer’.”
