Healthworks Preschool Volunteer

Role Description

Are you interested in gaining hands-on experience in early childhood education? Join us as a Preschool Volunteer and immerse yourself in the vibrant world of preschool education. This volunteer opportunity offers you the chance to learn how a preschool operates, engage with young children, and support their development through play and creative activities.

Responsibilities:

  1. Supporting Children: Engage with children in play-based activities, encouraging their social, emotional, and cognitive development. Provide children with creative opportunities for learning and expression.
  2. Working as Part of a Team: Collaborate with preschool staff and fellow volunteers to create a nurturing and stimulating environment for children. Assist in planning and implementing activities.
  3. Weekly Engagement: Commit to being available on a weekly basis to attending Pre-school sessions. These sessions are held in the morning (8:45 am-11:45 am) and in the afternoon (12:30 pm- 3:30 pm) on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays (term time only).
  4. Gaining Experience: Gain valuable insight into the daily operations of a preschool setting and learn about early childhood education practices and strategies.

  • Friendly and Approachable: Create a welcoming atmosphere for children and colleagues.
  • Team Player: Work collaboratively with others to achieve common goals, demonstrating flexibility and adaptability.
  • Good Communication Skills: Communicate effectively with children, staff, and parents.
  • Caring and Enthusiastic: Show genuine care and passion for the well-being and development of young children.
  • Punctual and Reliable: Arrive on time for scheduled volunteer shifts and activities and commit to sessions.
  • Flexibility: Be adaptable to different situations and willing to participate in various activities.
  • Enhanced DBS Check: Willingness to undergo an enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check, as this is required for safeguarding purposes.
