Join Us for a Big Latch On Celebration at Newcastle City Library

Families across Newcastle are invited to come together this May for a special Big Latch On event, celebrating and promoting breastfeeding in a welcoming and supportive environment.

Taking place on Saturday 9 May, 11am to 1.30pm at Newcastle City Library, the event will bring mams, babies and families together to take part in a shared moment at midday, where as many babies as possible will latch on at the same time.

This will contribute to the global Big Latch On initiative, helping to record participation numbers from across the world.

The event is open to everyone – mams, babies, older siblings, dads, and caregivers – and aims to create a relaxed, inclusive space for families to connect and access support.  Alongside the main latch-on moment, there will be plenty to enjoy throughout the session.

Older children can take part in story time and crafts, while practitioners and peer support volunteers will be on hand to offer free feeding support and advice.  Families will also be able to meet our Best Start team and find out more about local services and campaigns available across the city.

Held on the children’s floor in an open, accessible space within the library, the event is easy to drop into – whether you’re planning to attend or just passing by.

The event is free to attend and no booking is required. For more information, please call 07826 531575.

Come along, get involved, and be part of this global celebration – help us make it a moment to remember!
