If so, we would love to hear from you.

Healthworks is an award winning charity working with local communities across the North East to tackle health inequalities and improve health, wellbeing and life outcomes. Our work has been nationally recognised as making an outstanding contribution to the health and well-being of local communities by the King’s Fund.

Role

We are seeking a self-motivated and experienced Senior Health Improvement Manager to lead our specialist Physical Activity team. You will provide overall leadership for the service, build and develop a strong and skilled team, and ensure that people with long-term health conditions or those new to physical activity receive an excellent experience that improves their confidence, health literacy, condition management and quality of life.

Working with the Healthworks senior management team, commissioners, funders and partners, you will maintain existing service agreements, shape new commissions and business opportunities, and lead service development projects that support our strategic aims. You will monitor performance, manage resources and budgets, maintain robust procedures and risk assessments, and ensure the team has the tools, training and support required to perform effectively.

About You

You will be an experienced and supportive leader who can inspire a team, develop services and manage resources effectively. You will bring strong communication and problem-solving skills, a practical understanding of safe and inclusive physical activity, and a genuine commitment to improving health outcomes.

You will hold a REPs Level 3 Exercise Referral qualification or above and have relevant experience supporting people with long-term conditions. Further specialist qualifications, experience in the charity or voluntary sector, and access to a car would be advantageous. Most importantly, you will share Healthworks’ values and passion for reducing health inequalities.

Our Commitment

We know how important our team is to the amazing work that we do in our local communities.  In return we offer;

  • 27 days annual leave plus bank holidays (pro rata)
  • Free membership to both our gyms
  • Training and development opportunities
  • The opportunity to work for a friendly and positive organisation that genuinely makes a difference to people’s lives.
