Our Latest Impact Report Launched Today
Today, we celebrate 30 years of Healthworks and officially launch our Impact Report 2024-25.
A special celebration event at the Crowne Plaza, Newcastle brought together community members, partners and colleagues to reflect on three decades of impact, share stories of change, and look ahead to the future of community-led health.

This year’s Impact Report captures the measurable difference our services are making across the North East and North Cumbria, including £46.2 million estimated savings to the NHS and social care through prevention and early intervention.
We were honoured to be joined by distinguished guest speakers including:
-
Professor Sir Michael Marmot, Healthworks Patron and global authority on health inequalities
-
Professor Bola Owolabi CBE, Chief Inspector of Primary and Community Services, Care Quality Commission
-
Dr James Prentis, Consultant Anaesthetist, Newcastle Hospitals Trust
-
Lorna Smith, Deputy Director of Public Health, Newcastle
-
Paula Bell Cummings, a Healthworks service user sharing her lived experience of recovery and resilience

Throughout the day, attendees explored our services, hearing first-hand stories of impact, and engaging in discussions on how community-led approaches are key to reducing inequalities and shaping healthier futures.
At the heart of our report are the people. Today, Paula Bell Cummings shared her powerful story of recovery, showing how Healthworks support helped her regain strength, confidence, and independence. Her journey reminds us that behind every statistic are individuals and families whose lives are transformed.

Looking Forward
From our beginnings in 1995 as a pioneering Healthy Living Centre, Healthworks has grown into a multi-service regional organisation supporting thousands every year across the North East.
As Chief Executive Paul Court notes in the report:
“Together, we’ve shown that with the right approach, it’s possible not only to deliver but to lead and innovate. Here’s to the next 30 years.”
Today is both a celebration and a call to action – to keep building healthier, fairer futures for our communities.
