Stop Smoking Support
If you’re ready to quit smoking, then we can help!
Quitting smoking is one of the best things you can do for your health, but it’s not always easy to do it alone.
About two-thirds of smokers say they want to quit, but many try without support, even though this is the least effective way. People who get the right help are three times more likely to quit successfully.

Working with Newcastle Hospitals
The Tobacco Dependency Treatment Service (TDTS) is a joint initiative between Newcastle Hospitals and Healthworks, aiming to combat tobacco dependence and support healthier recovery for patients.
Launched in November 2022, this partnership processes 1,000 to 2,000 referrals per quarter from inpatient wards across Newcastle hospitals. The programme plays a vital role in maintaining the hospitals’ smoke-free status by offering personalised support to smokers.
All patients are invited to use this service as part of their care.

Quitting smoking is one of the best things you can do for your health (and your bank balance)
Smoking is the leading cause of preventable illness and premature death in England, with about half of all lifelong smokers dying prematurely, losing on average around 10 years of life. In 2016 alone, there were around 78,000 deaths attributable to smoking, representing 16% of all deaths across the UK.
Smoking harms the body in many different ways, the effects are all pretty unpleasant, and the risks associated with smoking are very high.
The average smoker (smoking around 20 cigarettes a day) can save over £3500 a year…that’s a lot of money going up in smoke!
Find out how much you could save if you gave up; we think you’ll be pretty shocked.
Still not convinced? Then take a look at what’s actually in a cigarette, ingredients include arsenic, cadmium (which is used in battery production), and formaldehyde.
No wonder smoking is bad for your health!
The great news is that when you give up smoking, your body starts to recover almost immediately!
It really is never too late to give up smoking. Even if you’ve smoked for years, when you quit, your body almost immediately starts to recover.

Getting active can help you stay on track!
In addition to getting the right support for you, there are a number of small lifestyle changes that you can make to help you stay on track and resist temptation.
Getting more active can help you! A review of scientific studies has proved that exercise, even a 5-minute walk or stretch, cuts cravings and may help your brain produce anti-craving chemicals. Pop over to our Getting Active page to find out about our gyms and classes, and you could try our 10-step home workout to introduce gentle exercise into your daily routine easily and safely.
