Get a free NHS Health Check while you shop!
For one day only, people in Newcastle will be able to get a free NHS Health Check when they pop to the shops!
A trained team from Healthworks, a regional community health charity based in Newcastle, are offering free NHS Health Checks in Eldon Square Shopping Centre on Friday 24 May between 10am and 3pm.
The NHS Health Check identifies if someone is at higher risk of developing certain health problems, such as heart disease, diabetes, kidney disease, stroke, and dementia. The check takes about 20 to 30 minutes and results are available straight away.
Healthworks staff will offer each participant personalised advice to help them reduce their risk of developing these conditions.
The NHS Health Check is free to anybody aged 40 to 74, although people with certain pre-existing health conditions may not be eligible.
Rory Harrison, Health Improvement Senior Manager at Healthworks said.
“Healthworks are delighted to be working with Eldon Square to bring these potentially life saving health checks to local people right in the heart of the city. Early identification of being at higher risk of developing long term health conditions is vital, and I would urge anyone aged 40 to 74 to get a check.”
