There are many different ways that you can support our work.  Whether you want to give a simple donation or be a bit more hands on by volunteering or fundraising we’re truly grateful. If you’re a daredevil you could do a charity challenge such as a sky-dive or if you prefer to keep your feet on the ground you could take part in a run…the possibilities are endless!

Support Useful Vision – Every Little Helps!

Great North Run 2025

As we celebrate 30 years of helping people live longer, healthier, and happier lives, Healthworks is taking on an exciting challenge – running the Great North Run 2025 to raise vital funds for Useful Vision!

Our amazing team of runners includes Healthworks staff, partners, people who have used our services, and passionate supporters – all coming together to make a real difference.

Useful Vision is a life-changing project supporting blind and visually impaired children across the North East. It became part of the Healthworks family in early 2025, and we’re proud to continue its incredible work.

Through fun-filled activity days, learning experiences, and skill-building sessions, Useful Vision helps visually impaired children grow in confidence, make friends, and enjoy new opportunities they might not otherwise have. But we need your support to do even more!  By donating to our Great North Run team, you’ll be helping us expand Useful Vision, reaching more children and families with even more fantastic activities. Every single donation – big or small – will make a huge difference.

Other ways to support our Useful Vision project

1) Shop and donate for free:

Did you know you can support Useful Vision just by shopping online? When you use our Easy Fundraising account, retailers will donate a percentage of your purchase at no extra cost to you. It’s a simple way to give while you shop!

2) Make a one-off or regular donation:

Every penny counts! No matter how small, Healthworks really values your donation.  You can take action right now and know that your gift will immediately help us to support our work.

3) Leave a lasting legacy:

A gift in your will can make a huge impact on visually impaired children and their families. Over the years, Useful Vision has been fortunate to receive generous legacies that have helped fund vital activities. If you’ve already made arrangements, thank you – nothing needs to change as a result of Useful Vision joining our Healthworks community.

4) Fundraise your way:

Want to host an event, take on a challenge, or come up with a creative way to raise funds?

Whether you’re a first-time fundraiser or a seasoned pro, we’d love to support you. Get in touch at [email protected].

We have teamed up with Charity Challenge who have some amazing challenges for you to take part in while raising money for us at the same time!

Once you find your challenge you’ll register with them,  choose Healthworks as your charity and then they will be in touch to tell you what happens next!

5) Donation tins and card readers:

Do you work in retail or know a business that could display a donation tin or card reader? If you have permission to install one, we can provide all the materials and arrange regular collections. Contact us, and we’ll take care of the rest!

6) Donate via your employer

Payroll Giving is a tax efficient way of donating to your chosen charity. The donation is taken straight from your pay (before tax) and goes towards funding your chosen cause.

You can make a difference to the work we do here at Healthworks by opting in for Payroll Giving. Check with your employer that they offer Payroll Giving and if they do, they’ll arrange your monthly donation through your salary.

7) Support us when you shop online

Shop at over 6,000 leading stores via the  Give As You Live website or app and you’ll raise free funds for Healthworks. You don’t pay anything extra for your shopping, the donation is made at no extra cost to you.

It’s quick and easy, doesn’t cost you a penny and you will know that you are helping us make a difference when you shop!

Donations In-Kind from Businesses and Organisations

We are always happy to hear from organisations or businesses who can offer in-kind support, whether that be goods or services.  We would particularly like to hear from you if you can offer any of the following:

• Online advertising opportunities
• Printing and promotional merchandise
• Professional services for example legal, financial, and property valuation
• Video and photographs
• TV and radio coverage
• Gym equipment
